In July of last year Khanh contacted us from Australia to discuss her push present. At the time she was 6 months pregnant and wanted to select her diamond band but wait until after the birth to make sure of her ring size. She selected a 1/2 Eternity U-Prong band and we then waited to make the band until February. During that time Khanh also purchased a Diamonds By The Yard Necklace and Sapphire Halo Diamond Pendant for her mother. Her friend Alex purchased a beautiful Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond for his wife along with a 1/2 Eternity Bead Set Band. Everything was shipped out to them in March along with two Brian Gavin Signature Blankees and we just received this testimonial along with the pictures in the gallery below.

Jamie, I have some pictures for you with our BGD goodies! Apologies they have taken so long. Please feel free to photoshop the wrinkles and circles from our eyes Just some background info for you: with my ring (1/2 u-prong eternity), this was a push present from my husband for our baby Benjamin. When I showed Alex and Soan (who travelled with us to Las Vegas and Hawaii) the glamour shots of the eternity, they were so impressed, they just had to get one for Soan (1/2 bead set eternity)! Unbeknownst to me at the time, Soan was actually pregnant (she is due in mid October)! And also unbeknownst to both Soan and myself, Alex secretly bought Soan the BGD loose stone. Needless to say, when she unwrapped her package, she was extremely surprised! She was especially surprised that Alex was able to keep it a secret from her for so long as he is a big blabbermouth. We are all so impressed with our goodies. Our rings are so super sparkly and my necklace was very elegant and delicate. We could not stop looking at our bling during our trip. I then had to get something special for my mum too – hence the last minute purchase of the sapphire halo necklace. My mum kept commenting on how bright and sparkly the diamonds were, even though they were small. Thank you so much Jamie for helping both myself and Alex with our purchases. In December Wynne wrote in about a diamond recut and possible new setting:

Hi there! I have seen your fabulous recutting work on pricescope. Currently I have a non-certified 1.72 K I1 Round Brilliant stone. Rather than upgrade to a better cut, I thought I might see if there would be an option to have it recut? My original "upgrade/downgrade" plan was to get a smaller stone that was better cut so I do not mind losing some carat weight. I definitely see some type of light leakage if I look at the diamond in certain angles as you might be able to see from the attached picture. What do I need to do to have you assess the diamond? Do you have an approximate price/carat for the recut or is it something you need to see first? My current setting is in a platinum melee band..But I’m considering going with a shared prong for less metal and more bling! So just my current thoughts – not 100% on changing the setting yet.  Really looking forward to working with you guys!!

In order for Brian to give accurate feedback and projections, Wynne sent in her diamond ring and Brian unmounted the diamond. The starting weight was 1.746 and he predicted a finished weight of approx. 1.53 (an 87% retention). She gave Brian the go ahead and waited patiently as recuts take about 3 weeks to turn around. The actual finished weight was almost as predicted at 1.54 ct. The diamond's performance was greatly enhanced!

Wynne decided to have her “new” diamond set back into her original setting, which we refinished and set the diamond with claw prongs.

Lesley/Brian, I received the ring and it looks so fabulous!! I love how the setting was modified and the delicate prongs that the diamond is now in. My husband Eric is very pleased too! (happy wife happy life). lol. Thank you guys so much. Can't wait to actually buy brian gavin diamonds in the future (ahem 1 ctw bezel milgrain studs…just sayin'). Thank you thank you!! Wynne

In August we received a call from a friend’s son, Jason, letting us know that he was coming in to town for a few days and that he wanted to come and look at Brian’s Signature Hearts and Arrows diamonds. We were very pleased to hear from him as we knew his parents were very fond of his girlfriend and were excited for them to become engaged. He came in and spent a long time with Brian looking through all the fantastic diamond options and selected a beautiful 1.722 ct Brian Gavin Signature H & A. A couple of weeks later we started working on the CAD of the setting. Jason knew exactly what he wanted and after 2 CAD’s he approved the magnificent platinum braided diamond ring you see in the gallery below. All diamond melee is F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee.

After he had picked up the ring from the FedEx Station, he wrote us the following e-mail:

Hey Lesley and Brian, I just got back from picking up the ring, and I have to say I am really thrilled with the result! The stone looks amazing and the detail on the setting is beautiful. The high quality and workmanship that you guys put into this is really evident. I haven't quite decided when to pop the question, but hopefully it will be soon because I can't wait for Erin to get her hands on it! I know she is going to just love it! Many thanks to y'all for guiding me through the process with ease. I will definitely be in touch soon, hopefully with a great story and some great pictures! Regards, Jason

A couple of weeks later we received the proposal story:

Hey Lesley and Brian! Just wanted to let you guys know that I popped the question yesterday! I thought I liked the ring but once she got it on and wore it around I realized I LOVED it! And most importantly, she was absolutely blown away with it and has not stopped looking at it since. Everything we did yesterday, day and night, no matter what the setting or lighting, it just looked absolutely stunning!

Here's how it went down. I told Erin we would be having brunch at a Parc, a bistro across the street from Rittenhouse Square (Philadelphia's most popular public park which is a block from where I live). In secret, I had arranged for a beautiful picnic to be set up in the park, and I hired a musician to sing and play guitar. As we walked through the park towards the restaurant, I pointed out the picnic and the musician, and I told Erin we should go listen to him play for a minute before we went to the restaurant. We approached the musician and he walked up to us immediately and started serenading us. Erin was completely stunned, and so I turned to her and told her that I had to confess. We weren't going to the restaurant; the picnic and the music were all for us. Then I told her I had one other little thing, dropped to one knee and proposed. She was completely surprised! She immediately said yes and although her hands were shaking, we managed to get the beautiful ring on her finger. We sat down and enjoyed the picnic and the music on what turned out to be a beautiful fall day! A few minutes later, the professional photographer that I hired to capture the entire thing came out of the shadows and revealed herself to Erin, and we posed for some great photos in the park. (We also got some really cool shots of the ring, of course!) It all turned out absolutely perfect and we are so, so thrilled!

Of course I couldn't have done it so well without all of your help! Everything turned out so well with the ring and you guys made it so relaxing and such a pleasure to do something that otherwise would seem very, very intimidating. Although we don't exactly know when we'll tie the knot (perhaps Spring 2012), we can't wait to shop for wedding jewelry with y'all!  Thanks again guys! Best, Jason

Brian contacted us in August looking to purchase a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond. He worked with Denise to narrow down his choices and ended up purchasing a beautiful 1.20 carat stone. He had us ship the diamond to him for inspection and he ended up going to a local jeweler to purchase the setting. Throughout the process Denise stayed in touch with him and we received this e-mail message along with a couple of beautiful proposal pictures.

Tanja contacted us all the way from Finland at the end of June. She was coming to the USA in August and wanted to start discussing the purchase of a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond and setting as an update for her engagement ring and as a present from her husband for their first baby boy.  She originally wanted to purchase a stone with a color no lower than an H.  After we explained to her that Brian’s stones face up one or two colors whiter than graded due to their perfect symmetry and maximum light return, she started considering I colored stones to maximize the size. Jamie worked with her to narrow down her options and she decided to purchase a 1.70 I VS2 Brian Gavin Signature H & A. For the setting she selected the 5336 Platinum Classic Tiffany Style Knife Edge Solitaire with a “surprise” blue sapphire set inside the shank to represent her son. The ring was ready a few days before Tanja and her husband were coming on their trip to California, so we e-mailed her the Glamor Shots to enjoy in the meantime.

Hi Jamie, Thank you for the glamor shots! We were so excited that we woke up at 6 a.m to check the e-mail and there they were !The ring is perfection! It is absolutely stunning Now i cannot wait to have it on my finger and adore, so i'm counting days and hours!!!

In May we received an e-mail from a customer in Singapore asking for assistance with the purchase of a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond. We covered  some of the questions he had on Live Chat and he ended up deciding to buy the diamond only and have it set in Singapore.

When he received the package he wrote in:

Hi Lesley, Just to let u know, I've received the diamond in great timing!! Thank you so much!! =) It looks FABULOUS to me!! But… i can't say i know how to tell a good diamond from another just by visual inspection… nor do i have a whole stash of diamonds to compare with! So, i'll be taking it to a trained eye for assessment & will let u know how it goes from there! I'm quite sure it'll turn out ok, probably just a matter of how much above expectations it is! Will let u know soon.

We then heard this from him:

Hi Lesley, i've proposed! Everything went well Thank you so much for all ur time & effort in helping me make the decision to go with Brian Gavin. she really loved the diamond! we haven't taken any photos of the diamond on her finger yet, but if/when we do, i'll send it over to you!

Tyler called in at the beginning of June looking to purchase a 1 carat diamond to be set into a setting that his future wife had picked out at Jared locally. Jamie worked with our customer to select a beautiful GIA certified 1.02 round brilliant diamond from our “Select” diamond inventory. We ordered it in from one of our trusted suppliers and provided Tyler with a Sarin report and and idealscope, as well as verbal feedback from Brian Gavin.

We shipped out the diamond to him via FedEx overnight and he took it into the store to have it set. The sales person helping him tried to convince him to purchase a diamond of higher color from them but after comparing  the cuts  in natural daylight he wrote:

I took the ring outside today in the sun and WOW, it is fricken amazing. It sparkles like crazy! I really enjoyed working with you as Brian Gavin's technical competency was much higher than that of the jewelry store people and for an engineer like myself, that was crucial in my selection.

He wrote in last Friday after the proposal and e-mailed us the pictures in the gallery below:

Hi Jamie, Great news. She said yes and loves the ring!!! I attached a couple of pictures. I also gave your name to my friend Barry who now is most likely starting his search. He's the last one in our group of friends so I think the pressure is on. Thanks again for all your help. Thanks, Tyler
