She had purchased a pair of A Cut Above diamond earrings from us previously and was eager to work with us again. This was her first custom ring and gemstone project and she was both excited and nervous!

Jamie worked with her to fine tune all the details of the setting and the CAD rendering was e-mailed to her for approval. Once approved, the ring was cast and then set with our magnificent F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee. The actual setting of the tsavorite took a long time as gemstones are much softer than diamonds and need additional care during the setting process. The result was spectacular!

  • Denise, First of all, thank you so much for helping me through this process and helping me find the perfect ring and stone. That being said, WOW! The stone and setting are phenomenal. Simply stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. I have not seen a stone that sparkles that nice at any local jeweler, even under their lights! My only problem now is trying to wait another six weeks to pop the question. I'm not sure I am going to make it! Thank you again for everything!   • Hi Lesley,  I just picked up the ring from Fedex and it SURPASSES all of my expectations, it is one of the few times I can honestly say that the photos don't do it justice. I love everything about it. It has the perfect amount of flow in the design, the pavee diamonds in the band look amazing, but my favorite feature of it has to be the mount that the main stone is set in. It looks stunning and is so well done. I cannot sufficiently express how happy I am with this ring. The box it came in even looks great! I'll definitely be using it when I propose.  The proposal isn't until August 14th (so 1.5 weeks) and I'm going to have a hard time waiting to give it to her. I have no doubt that she will love it. I'll be sure to email you once she has the ring :)   I hope that I can keep you in mind when it comes time for wedding bands! Thanks, Neil W.

I have told several friends about your work, and I honestly have to say that the pieces speak for themselves in terms of the quality and beauty of BGD's diamonds and workmanship! Sorry I am just emailing you – we are in the last day of a 3-day, 34-home community garage sale. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday evening until midnight staging and tagging items, and spent all day Thursday and Friday with the sale. Although I was able to pick up my package from Fedex after work Wednesday, I wasn't able to wear my jewelry until this morning (not working the sale today – actually suffered from heat exhaustion yesterday evening since it has been so hot here, so the hubby took over today!)   • Dear Leslie, I finally got to see it in person after drooling over the e-mailed photos for weeks. It is just magnificent! It has so much more sparkle than I expected. The effect of having 5 BG branded stones side by side is just unbelievable! The setting is really lovely too, lets in so much light. I also appreciate how the arrows on all the stones are perfectly lined up with each other.  The only constructive critisism I would have: It would be nice to have a BGD logo inside the band.   • I have picked up the ring. It is finally complete and i feel very much at rest now that the ring is ready and looking incredible. I will be making a small ring box out of wood (probably spalted and figured maple) so that it can fit in my pocket and serve as a personal touch. Thank you for replacing the ring box so that she may use it to store the ring once i give it to her. I will send you picks of the ring in the box after I make it and let you know how the proposal goes (may be a while since my August vacation with her got postponed). The ring is now flawless in my eyes and i am very happy that i chose Brian Gavin Diamonds. He envisioned a 3 stone pendant with a larger stone for his wife and two matching smaller stones for the girls. He worked with us to select 3 Brian Gavin Signature hearts and arrows diamonds that matched well and stayed within his budget – a 0.75 ct and two 0.33 ct stones.

    Once the diamond selections had been finalized he e-mailed us some inspiration pictures that all had a bezel theme. He wanted the larger stone at the top of the pendant and then the 2 smaller stones underneath it in a design that could separate the stones as the girls got older. He also wanted a sturdy but fluid chain as his wife had previously lost her pendant.  When he received it, Jason sent out a quick e-mail:

    The girls were born 2 weeks ago and Jason e-mailed off a beautiful picture of them. We’re looking forward to the Brian Gavin Signature Blankee Shots which we will share when they come in. The pictures below tell the story of the creation of this unique and beautiful 3 stone diamond pendant.

He selected a beautiful 0.90ct Brian Gavin Signature Hearts & Arrows diamonds and then started working on the setting.  He  had a phone meeting with Brian and told him that he loved our 3 stone crossed trellis setting but wanted it with a slight twist. He wanted us to use .25 ct side stones and then add diamond melee down the sides of the shank. We created the CAD and after a few minor adjustments, Kevin gave the green light and we moved forward to the casting and finishing of the ring.  While the project was in progress, we were surprised by the delivery of a care package of delicious Hershey's chocolates!!!

    He proposed to Rebecca at 6 a.m. at Fingerlakes in NY last week and e-mailed the pictures to us to share. Enjoy the process and pictures below.

We discussed her questions in depth, she had a phone appointment with Brian and then she decided to fly in for the day to meet with Brian and actually look at some of our beautiful stones. She selected a magnificent 2.21 ct. I color Brian Gavin Signature H & A diamond, marveling at how white it faced up, and then got to work with Brian on the custom ring. She e-mailed in a sketch, some inspiration pictures and notes and it took a couple of renditions to get the CAD just right. After her approval the ring went to casting. It was finished a few days earlier than predicted, so we got in touch with Dalia’s husband and arranged to ship it directly to him without her knowledge.

    We received this e-mail from her yesterday which says it all – she was thrilled!!

    Dear Gavin Gang, Attached are a couple hand shots of my fabulous ring!!!  Karlon took me to dinner Friday night and gave me an early suprise, and said he would do it all again after 31 years of marriage!!!! Thanks for all your help and patience.  Yes, Brian my diamond is as white as you promised, but more than that the sparkle and fire is just excellent!!!  I told Karlon it is the most beautiful diamond I had ever seen.  The setting is just perfectly simple and elegant with a touch of difference. I was having fun in the car flashing all the prism of colors the diamond was making around inside the car.  Karlon said I better not aim the diamond flashes at oncoming traffic because I might blind them and cause a wreck.  Ha!!! Being that our upgrade policy includes any A Cut Above H & A diamonds graded before November 2008, she was eligible and sent her diamond in. We unmounted it from the original 6 prong setting and Brian checked it carefully to make sure that it was in its original, undamaged condition, which it was. Ideally she wanted a 2 carat H SI1 or SI2, but being that we did not have one in stock at the time, Brian upgraded her to a 2.09 I SI1 Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond and set it back into her original setting.

    Over the next couple of months Kate watched the database and eventually a beautiful 2.12 H SI2 Brian Gavin Signature H & A came out of the factory. We had Kate send the ring back to us and we changed out the 2.09 for the 2.12 ct and we set it into her original setting. Last month she decided that she was ready to proceed with the creation of her “Forever” Setting and she e-mailed us inspiration pictures and descriptions to go through with Brian. We created the CAD and e-mailed it to her for her approval. We then cast the ring, and finished it off with a row of beautiful Brian Gavin Signature melee set around the middle of the basket. Needless to say she was absolutely thrilled!

  • lesley – i just wanted to say how fabulous i think my new bangle is. i know you don't normally work in silver, so i really took this as a personal favor. and i have to say – it's truly lovely! i have worn it every day since; it's just so elegant yet substantial – it's a piece i know i'll treasure always. thank you so much for making this for me. i've wanted this particular piece for such a long time and have had numerous quotes for it, but was never fully confident that it would turn out exactly as I envisioned. so i was totally thrilled when i opened the box and saw, yet again, my thoughts translated exactly into something beautiful. lesley, pls thank brian and anyone who worked on this; it's an elegant, classy piece of jewelry and i love it.   • Lesley, It has been a pleasure working with you on this jewelry project that has such tremendous personal meaning for me. All the positive comments I read about your customer service and excellent craftsmanship have been absolutely true. I picked up the earrings on Monday evening and felt like it was Christmas. First the big FedEx box, then the small FedEx box, then the bubble wrap envelope, then the orange tissue, (oh the torture! – still not there yet) then the white box, then the beautiful wooden oval jewelry box, and finally…the moment that took my breath away.   The earrings are so perfect, I wouldn't change one tiny detail. I'm glad I went with the milgrain edge. I put them on right in the FedEx parking lot and drove home with a smile on my face. The only negative is that I can't enjoy their beauty while I'm wearing them, unless I look in a mirror, of course. Thank you for everything, and I hope to be working with you again on a future project. Erin S.
  • Oh yeah no I almost fell over when Mike opened the box LOL!!! I was so nervous my fingers got all swollen & I couldn't get the darn thing on LOL…after a few hours it fit perfect LOL…I stared at it all weekend & I am still staring like I am a newlywed or something LOL…the craftsmanship is beyond words…JUST PERFECT!!!   • Hi Lesley – I picked the package up yesterday. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said regarding the work you do, but I have had high expectations throughout this process, from selecting a stone to completing the setting and you guys have exceeded those expectations. It is reassuring to work with everyone at BG, as I know I'm getting the experience, knowledge, and attention to detail you don't seem to find elsewhere. The ring and eternity band look spectacular. Everything complements each other perfectly. It reflects the look we were trying to achieve. And the setting made me fall in love with the center stone again. We hadn't seen it in a while, and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much.   • Hello Denise! I had a wonderful weekend thanks for asking! I am absolutely loving my band! The sparkle is incredible! Even last week during the rain & rotten weather it was sparkly! I'm already working on my husband for a larger all diamond one for the other hand! I can't thank you enough for all of your help!   • Hi Lesley! The proposal went perfectly! I proposed to her on the beach at sunset and it was awesome. The ring has been a huge hit everywhere we go now! She constantly gets compliments on it and I am extremely happy with how great it turned out. I can't tell you how many compliments she has gotten on it from complete strangers, it is great. I also had the ring appraised for insurance purposes, and the appraiser commented on what a terrific job the jeweler did on the re-cut of the diamond. He was the same appraiser that appraised the stone in its original setting and was very impressed with the new cut. Thanks again for being so patient with me throughout the process. I am impressed with your great customer service and the quality of the work Brian Gavin does. This ring is a major hit around here! Adam B.
  • Denise, First of all, thank you so much for helping me through this process and helping me find the perfect ring and stone. That being said, WOW! The stone and setting are phenomenal. Simply stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. I have not seen a stone that sparkles that nice at any local jeweler, even under their lights! My only problem now is trying to wait another six weeks to pop the question. I'm not sure I am going to make it! Thank you again for everything!
