Rusty contacted us with a very special project. He wanted us to create a custom rose gold setting for an approximately 2 carat pear shape diamond with 2 matching diamond bands. He e-mailed us a worksheet of what he had in mind design wise and Denise set about helping him to find the stone. She sourced a 2.27 black pear shape diamond and we shipped it out to him for his approval. He then shipped it back and we set to work to create the CAD for the ring and bands. He approved the CADs and we caste the settings in 18K rose gold. All the diamond melee used was F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee. The result was spectacular!!!

Hi Denise, I just called you to tell you that I picked up the ring during my lunch today. There aren't any words that can express how excited I am about the ring. It is so beautiful. I can't wait to see it on Marie's finger. She is going to love it. Take care – Rusty

Towards the end of January, Matt contacted us inquiring about having us create a custom platinum engagement ring influenced by the Tiffany Legacy design for his girlfriend, Shauna. We had worked with Shauna on two projects already and she insisted that Matt work with us for this important purchase. Matt is a Doctoral Candidate in Fine Art and was very clear and explicit about what they wanted in the ring.

They purchased a vintage cushion cut and had it shipped to us to set into the ring. We  then created the CAD image and e-mailed it out to Matt and after some slight adjustments we got the green light to proceed.

I sincerely thank you for your time and commitment. Both Shauna and I have great respect for your artistry and look forward with great anticipation to the finished ring!

Details were a Platinum Custom Setting, Ring Size 4.75 set w/ approx. 1.18 ctw F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature diamond melees and a 1.43 vintage cushion cut center stone. The result was spectacular! We shipped the ring out in March and upon receiving it Matt e-mailed in the following:

Dear Brian, Lesley, and Denise, On behalf of Shauna and myself, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude. The ring is utterly stunning and has set a new standard for both class and beauty. Yet, I feel that the ring's aesthetic is matched only by your professionalism and passion, and I thank you for your artistic ideas as well as for your embrace of my own. Through your efforts, mere metal and stone have been merged into a truly priceless symbol and heirloom. I guarantee that I will be working with BGD again in the future, and I will encourage my friends and family to do the same.

Shauna has yet to see any images of the ring, nor will she until sometime in the future. She is obviously aware of its creation, but has no idea about its final aesthetic. I imagined the piece with her tastes considered but much of it was my own artistic input. I intend to make a formal proposal thereby "unveiling" the ring and leaving as much to imagination and surprise as possible. I will ask Shauna to write with her response to the ring, though I can assure you that she will be enthusiastically ecstatic. Again, I thank you all. Cordially yours, Matt

Fast forward several months and we received the following e-mail a few days ago from Shauna after Matt had proposed mid-August:

Dear Lesley, I understand you've been awaiting news of my engagement to Matthew, and I just want to thank you for helping the man of my dreams create the ring of my dreams! It is more beautiful than I ever hoped or imagined, and it means so much having been given to me by the most wonderful, thoughtful, talented, loving and handsome man. He proposed at home, just the two of us in the apartment we share, in a sweetly intimate and heartfelt moment. I know you worked closely with Matt to ensure everything turned out  perfectly, and I can honestly say I've never seen a prettier engagement ring in my life. And I can hardly believe *I* get to wear  it! I couldn't be happier or more excited. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Some pictures of the happy couple and ring follow (though my pictures  do no justice to the delicacy and beauty of the ring in person). Hi Denise, I'm been rather busy but just wanted to let you know how much I love my earrings. They are so sparkly and absolutely comfortable. As a matter of fact, I can't even feel them on my ears. I had a couple of miscues with our local fedex office but finally picked them up on Wednesday before Christmas and I have worn them every day since. In September, Nicolas wrote in inquiring about our recut service as he was interested in improving the cut quality of the diamond he had recently purchased. He sent it in for a recut consultation by Brian, who evaluated the diamond and recommended that he not recut it as it was a well cut stone, the structure of the stone presented some aspect of risk and there would be a loss of value.

Nicolas then worked with us to create a beautiful 18K white gold custom halo engagement ring and matching wedding band, set with F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee and finished off with hand milgrain work.  We received the following e-mail a few days ago:

Hello Denise,

I was thinking of waiting until Christmas to propose but I just couldn't wait to give Amanda the ring. So, after a romantic dinner prepared at home while enjoying a glass of nice red wine in front of the fireplace I mustered the courage and asked Amanda if she would spend the rest of her life with me. She said YES! Her reaction was overwhelming…she LOVED the ring…and when I told her about Brian Gavin Diamonds and her unique custom made ring she was very intrigued and curious to know whether there would one day be an "Amanda" ring on your website? (She said she would be flattered if there was). The only thing left for us to do is to announce the engagement to our families over Christmas, and get our wedding plans rolling!

Having said all that I'm definitely past due in expressing my gratitude to yourself, Brian and the rest of your team there at BrianGavinDiamonds  for making this a wonderful experience and for producing such a gorgeous product. I know that Amanda is already getting complements on her ring from friends and colleagues at work and your company name is getting a LOT of credit for your high quality skill and craftsmanship.

In July a customer wrote in inquiring about the possibility of re-cutting a princess cut diamond that she had kept safely in its box for several years. It weighed 1.24 carats and was not a great performer due to its very average cut. She sent it in for evaluation and was aware that the diamond would lose some weight, but had no use for it as it was.  Brian ran the numbers and estimated that it would end up weighing just over a carat. He felt that he could definitely improve the light performance by re-cutting it. The results were astounding!!!

Once it was done, she decided not to have it re-certified and started working with Denise on a customized setting based on the Split Halo setting.

This is just really exciting! Thank you for working with me through this whole process. You've been more than kind and helpful!

We created the ring with some minor changes and e-mailed her the Glamor Shots before it shipped.

I wasn't expecting to get these pictures tonight and am totally blown away by them and how beautiful this ring is. It is absolutely stunning.

Hi Denise, I'm super-pressed for time but wanted to let you know that I was able to pick my ring up at FedEx this morning. It's absolutely beautiful. It looks more delicate and fluid that I had expected after seeing the pictures and it's just perfect. Will you let Lesley and Brian know how happy I am with this ring? A few months ago, a very discerning customer came to our offices for an appointment. She had a magnificent 5 carat pear shape diamond that she wanted reset, but she had to feel that she could trust the jeweler who was going to make the setting for her. She met with Brian, armed with several inspiration pictures and notes. After discussing the details of what she had in mind, she gladly left her diamond with us. The CAD renderings were e-mailed to her and once approved, the ring was cast and set with F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee and the beautiful 5 carat pear shape diamond. The process and finished pictures are below for all to enjoy!

Aloha Brian, Lesley, Jamie, and the rest of wonderful BGD staff! I opened the box this morning & my mouth just dropped to the floor! Thank you guys so much for creating an amazing ring for me. You all have done an amazing job as always & I will definitely be back to purchase more pieces. Yuki.
