Towards the end of January, Matt contacted us inquiring about having us create a custom platinum engagement ring influenced by the Tiffany Legacy design for his girlfriend, Shauna. We had worked with Shauna on two projects already and she insisted that Matt work with us for this important purchase. Matt is a Doctoral Candidate in Fine Art and was very clear and explicit about what they wanted in the ring.

They purchased a vintage cushion cut and had it shipped to us to set into the ring. We  then created the CAD image and e-mailed it out to Matt and after some slight adjustments we got the green light to proceed.

I sincerely thank you for your time and commitment. Both Shauna and I have great respect for your artistry and look forward with great anticipation to the finished ring!

Details were a Platinum Custom Setting, Ring Size 4.75 set w/ approx. 1.18 ctw F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature diamond melees and a 1.43 vintage cushion cut center stone. The result was spectacular! We shipped the ring out in March and upon receiving it Matt e-mailed in the following:

Dear Brian, Lesley, and Denise, On behalf of Shauna and myself, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude. The ring is utterly stunning and has set a new standard for both class and beauty. Yet, I feel that the ring's aesthetic is matched only by your professionalism and passion, and I thank you for your artistic ideas as well as for your embrace of my own. Through your efforts, mere metal and stone have been merged into a truly priceless symbol and heirloom. I guarantee that I will be working with BGD again in the future, and I will encourage my friends and family to do the same.

Shauna has yet to see any images of the ring, nor will she until sometime in the future. She is obviously aware of its creation, but has no idea about its final aesthetic. I imagined the piece with her tastes considered but much of it was my own artistic input. I intend to make a formal proposal thereby "unveiling" the ring and leaving as much to imagination and surprise as possible. I will ask Shauna to write with her response to the ring, though I can assure you that she will be enthusiastically ecstatic. Again, I thank you all. Cordially yours, Matt

Fast forward several months and we received the following e-mail a few days ago from Shauna after Matt had proposed mid-August:

Dear Lesley, I understand you've been awaiting news of my engagement to Matthew, and I just want to thank you for helping the man of my dreams create the ring of my dreams! It is more beautiful than I ever hoped or imagined, and it means so much having been given to me by the most wonderful, thoughtful, talented, loving and handsome man. He proposed at home, just the two of us in the apartment we share, in a sweetly intimate and heartfelt moment. I know you worked closely with Matt to ensure everything turned out  perfectly, and I can honestly say I've never seen a prettier engagement ring in my life. And I can hardly believe *I* get to wear  it! I couldn't be happier or more excited. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! A few months ago, a very discerning customer came to our offices for an appointment. She had a magnificent 5 carat pear shape diamond that she wanted reset, but she had to feel that she could trust the jeweler who was going to make the setting for her. She met with Brian, armed with several inspiration pictures and notes. After discussing the details of what she had in mind, she gladly left her diamond with us. The CAD renderings were e-mailed to her and once approved, the ring was cast and set with F/G VS Brian Gavin Signature melee and the beautiful 5 carat pear shape diamond. The process and finished pictures are below for all to enjoy!

This past week we shipped out several beautiful bezel bands and 4 went out on the same day!! Our bezel bands are custom made in house to the exact ring size of the customer. They come in White Gold, Yellow Gold and Rose Gold as well as Platinum. They can be made with all diamonds, alternating diamonds and sapphires and one band was even made with champagne diamonds and a milgrain finish. In November 2009, Phyllis called in having seen some of our beautiful work on Pricescope. She had a custom ring made that she was not to her expected standards and she decided to give us a call. That project did not come to fruition, but several months later she called back wanting to speak with Brian about setting her three new Infinity Diamonds into a 3 stone ring. She e-mailed in several designs and had a couple of phone conferences with Brian. After much thought and discussion, she decided to go with our Truth x 3 setting with a 14K rose gold shank and three platinum Truth heads. She gave her feedback on Pricescope, the place she had originally found out about our company, wrote us the following fabulous testimonial and the Glamour Shots and hand pictures can be seen in the Gallery below!

On January 1 we were contacted by a local customer who was considering a Nouveau setting at Blue Nile and had seen our Novela setting featured on the blog. He was originally planning on purchasing his diamond from a family friend, but did not realize that we were located in Houston. When he came in to meet with Brian about the setting and he saw Brian’s Signature Hearts and Arrows diamonds he was blown away. He ended up purchasing a 1.50 ct. Brian Gavin Signature H & A and requested that we set it into the beautiful platinum Novela. Due to the popularity of the Novela, he had to wait patiently for over a month.  It was a hard wait but well worth it as he so proudly shows in his videos and pictures. He was totally blown away by the performance of the diamond, and the perfection and fine finish of the ring.

At the end of October we were contacted by a future customer who had received a diamond bow necklace that her husband had purchased from Fortunoff but she always felt that it was incomplete and wanted to add a diamond bezel set colored stone to it.  She purchased a pear shaped violet/blue spinel 1.98 ct..,measuring 9.8 x 6.4 mm and  a real "blueberry" blue pear.

She sent in the diamond necklace and the spinel and was very clear that she wanted the halo to be “mushroom” pave like the diamonds had been set in the bow. We created the halo using CAD and e-mailed the CAD files t her for her acceptance. We cast the setting and our first attempt did not give the required look, so we used larger stones, recast the halo and the result was perfect!

Hi Lesley, I just took a good look at Brian's photos and really, all I can think to say is WOW! The size and proportion, the color of that blue, the halo, the diamonds, the gallery- it all goes together so well. No one would ever know that we started with one half and added on the other. And my three rings…. yeah!!! I can't wait to see it in person tomorrow. I'm going to fall asleep having "good gem dreams" tonight! Thank you so much. I can't tell you how much I deeply respect and admire what you and Brian do, the quality of work that your company produces, the loving attention to detail that you give to every piece you make, and the care and treatment that you give to every customer. Hi Lesley, And the happy dance continues! My necklace is beautiful!!! I can see every diamond, and I can even see their little arrows. I can definitely see that the diamonds are a little bit bigger . The prongs are polished and they're not covering the diamonds anymore. It's really, really beautiful and it was so worth the wait. I really can't thank you and Brian enough! I love the size of the halo and the whole dangling pendant portion, and it has such a nice weight to it. Now it's a gorgeous necklace. My husband is going to be so pleased . Around  the third week of January we received a call from a very excited potential customer. He had been searching “hearts and arrows” on Google and Internet Explorer and had stumbled on Brian Gavin Diamonds. He found a beautiful 1.01 D VS1 Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond in the database and was calling to inquire about the setting. He knew that he wanted a setting with 2 x .15 ct round diamonds on each side with the center stone set into a 4 prong head slightly raised above the side stones.  We were able to turn his dream into a reality and shipped off his “Lucy” solitaire last week.

OMG Lesley, as you said, this is a beautiful ring for sure. Lucy is going to be elated. I am giving it to her on Valentine’s day as this is the day we met 7 years ago. I was shocked upon opening the package   The Best to You and Brian always, Anthony

For the setting, we decided to go with Brian Gavin (the man, the myth, the legend) based on the stellar reviews and the beautiful work displayed on his blog. (The stone is a yellow untreated sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company. It is a radiant cut, 1.97ct (7x6x5mm) stone.)

Eeek! Lesley, I can't tell you how fantastically thrilled I am with the ring. Thank you a million! After we got to FedEx and opened the box, I was speechless. We went out to our favorite sushi place to celebrate and I couldn't stop looking at your beautiful work of art. I can't believe I get to wear such a spectacular piece every day!
