She worked with Denise and Brian to select her 5 Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamonds. For the setting she decided to go with the Nightingale 5 stone setting with a 14K rose gold shank and a platinum gallery. She had been married 5 years (the 5 stones), she had added two beautiful children to her family (two bezel set diamonds). Her only dilemma was that when she got married she brought her daughter into the marriage. She also wanted her represented so she had us set a secret aquamarine inside the shank. All 5 of them are represented by the 5 diamonds.

On receiving the ring she shared her excitement and sent in the following e-mail:

Dear Brian, Lesley, Denise, and Jamie,

My ring is home!! It is everything I hoped it would be and more. The Diamonds are so beautiful, white and sparkly. Even when I walk in my hall where there is no light, my ring still performs. I am so thankful for your patience with me changing my mind on the first diamonds. It made the experience very pleasant and I am so happy with the diamonds Brian put together for me. I really appreciated the comparison pictures and the guidance in knowing these were in fact the diamonds for me. They far exceed my expectations, and quite honestly I have never seen any diamond, let alone 5 diamonds as beautiful as these. The great thing is they are just the right size, not too much and not too little. I don't detect the graduation in the stones at all, they are pure perfection! The Nightingale setting is just beautiful. The way it shows off my diamonds is awesome. I cannot say enough about the beauty of the rose gold; it is the most perfect color. I am looking forward to having future projects made with the rose gold. Everything from the first call (and the several after), the e-mails, down to the care in your packaging and paperwork was amazing! Thank you so much, I can't wait to work with you all again! We covered  some of the questions he had on Live Chat and he ended up deciding to buy the diamond only and have it set in Singapore.

When he received the package he wrote in:

Hi Lesley, Just to let u know, I've received the diamond in great timing!! :) Thank you so much!! =) It looks FABULOUS to me!! But… i can't say i know how to tell a good diamond from another just by visual inspection… nor do i have a whole stash of diamonds to compare with! So, i'll be taking it to a trained eye for assessment & will let u know how it goes from there! I'm quite sure it'll turn out ok, probably just a matter of how much above expectations it is! :) Will let u know soon.

We then heard this from him:

Hi Lesley, i've proposed! Everything went well :) Thank you so much for all ur time & effort in helping me make the decision to go with Brian Gavin. she really loved the diamond! :) we haven't taken any photos of the diamond on her finger yet, but if/when we do, i'll send it over to you! :)

  • Denise, First of all, thank you so much for helping me through this process and helping me find the perfect ring and stone. That being said, WOW! The stone and setting are phenomenal. Simply stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. I have not seen a stone that sparkles that nice at any local jeweler, even under their lights!   • Hi Lesley,  I just picked up the ring from Fedex and it SURPASSES all of my expectations, it is one of the few times I can honestly say that the photos don't do it justice. I love everything about it. It has the perfect amount of flow in the design, the pavee diamonds in the band look amazing, but my favorite feature of it has to be the mount that the main stone is set in. It looks stunning and is so well done. I cannot sufficiently express how happy I am with this ring. The box it came in even looks great! I'll definitely be using it when I propose.  The proposal isn't until August 14th (so 1.5 weeks) and I'm going to have a hard time waiting to give it to her. I have no doubt that she will love it. I have told several friends about your work, and I honestly have to say that the pieces speak for themselves in terms of the quality and beauty of BGD's diamonds and workmanship! Sorry I am just emailing you – we are in the last day of a 3-day, 34-home community garage sale. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday evening until midnight staging and tagging items, and spent all day Thursday and Friday with the sale.   • Dear Leslie, I finally got to see it in person after drooling over the e-mailed photos for weeks. It is just magnificent! It has so much more sparkle than I expected. The effect of having 5 BG branded stones side by side is just unbelievable! The setting is really lovely too, lets in so much light. I also appreciate how the arrows on all the stones are perfectly lined up with each other.  The only constructive critisism I would have: It would be nice to have a BGD logo inside the band.   • I have picked up the ring. It is finally complete and i feel very much at rest now that the ring is ready and looking incredible. I will be making a small ring box out of wood (probably spalted and figured maple) so that it can fit in my pocket and serve as a personal touch. Thank you for replacing the ring box so that she may use it to store the ring once i give it to her. I will send you picks of the ring in the box after I make it and let you know how the proposal goes (may be a while since my August vacation with her got postponed). The ring is now flawless in my eyes and i am very happy that i chose Brian Gavin Diamonds. The Conference  covered several disciplines and ran from July 26 – 28, at the J.W. Marriott Resort and Spa. The Gems and Jewelry Program featured many different specialists in the field including Peter Yantzer and Patrick Stout from the American Gem Society Laboratories  and Nancy Stacy, a well known and respected appraiser from California.

    Brian detailed the development of his Hearts and Arrows Grading System and the strict parameters he enforces to ensure true, symmetrical hearts and arrows patterning. He also recounted his entry into the Internet “e-tail” marketing business in 1999 and described his exciting journey of growth and success in the years since.

    The conference was attended by appraisers from all across the country and it was a great honor to be able to network with this professional group of men and women.

He envisioned a 3 stone pendant with a larger stone for his wife and two matching smaller stones for the girls. He worked with us to select 3 Brian Gavin Signature hearts and arrows diamonds that matched well and stayed within his budget – a 0.75 ct and two 0.33 ct stones.

    Once the diamond selections had been finalized he e-mailed us some inspiration pictures that all had a bezel theme. He wanted the larger stone at the top of the pendant and then the 2 smaller stones underneath it in a design that could separate the stones as the girls got older. He also wanted a sturdy but fluid chain as his wife had previously lost her pendant.  When he received it, Jason sent out a quick e-mail:

    Splendid! You guys are awesome!

    The girls were born 2 weeks ago and Jason e-mailed off a beautiful picture of them. We’re looking forward to the Brian Gavin Signature Blankee Shots which we will share when they come in. The pictures below tell the story of the creation of this unique and beautiful 3 stone diamond pendant.

He selected a beautiful 0.90ct Brian Gavin Signature Hearts & Arrows diamonds and then started working on the setting.  He  had a phone meeting with Brian and told him that he loved our 3 stone crossed trellis setting but wanted it with a slight twist. He wanted us to use .25 ct side stones and then add diamond melee down the sides of the shank. We created the CAD and after a few minor adjustments, Kevin gave the green light and we moved forward to the casting and finishing of the ring.  While the project was in progress, we were surprised by the delivery of a care package of delicious Hershey's chocolates!!!

    He proposed to Rebecca at 6 a.m. at Fingerlakes in NY last week and e-mailed the pictures to us to share. Enjoy the process and pictures below.

We discussed her questions in depth, she had a phone appointment with Brian and then she decided to fly in for the day to meet with Brian and actually look at some of our beautiful stones. She selected a magnificent 2.21 ct. I color Brian Gavin Signature H & A diamond, marveling at how white it faced up, and then got to work with Brian on the custom ring. She e-mailed in a sketch, some inspiration pictures and notes and it took a couple of renditions to get the CAD just right. After her approval the ring went to casting. It was finished a few days earlier than predicted, so we got in touch with Dalia’s husband and arranged to ship it directly to him without her knowledge.

    We received this e-mail from her yesterday which says it all – she was thrilled!!

    Dear Gavin Gang, Attached are a couple hand shots of my fabulous ring!!!  Karlon took me to dinner Friday night and gave me an early suprise, and said he would do it all again after 31 years of marriage!!!! Thanks for all your help and patience.  Yes, Brian my diamond is as white as you promised, but more than that the sparkle and fire is just excellent!!!  I told Karlon it is the most beautiful diamond I had ever seen.  The setting is just perfectly simple and elegant with a touch of difference. I was having fun in the car flashing all the prism of colors the diamond was making around inside the car.  Karlon said I better not aim the diamond flashes at oncoming traffic because I might blind them and cause a wreck.  Ha!!!
